Micro Weddings in Nashville
The new generation of couples has spoken, and the era of big, extravagant weddings with 200+ guests is out. With the average wedding cost totaling more than your car, so many couples are realizing that piling on debt to start your new life with your partner is just not the move. Let us introduce you to this simple yet elegant wedding style that actually feels intentional, sophisticated and still glamorous: The Micro-wedding.
For years, people have been in an invisible competition with each other, trying to one-up one another’s weddings week in and week out. We’ve heard the silent mumbles and groans from bridal parties who have to shell out thousands of dollars just to participate in these weddings as bridesmaids, buying new dresses, taking time off work to travel across the world, and staying in big, fancy hotels for multiple friends throughout the years. And yes, it can be taxing to not only your wallet but your well-being. But those days are dwindling away, as people are starting to realize the stress of those huge weddings sometimes outweighs the actual reason you want to get married and have a wedding in the first place. It is supposed to be fun!
The new generation of couples is starting to put their money into smaller weddings and elopements that don’t bring every second cousin twice removed and friends from high school you have only talked to through swiping up on their story every other month and speak solely through reaction emojis along for the most important day of their lives. Instead, just having those people who have been there with you every step of the way throughout life and family members that are closest to you.
As photographers, we have seen this trend and have made sure we also aren’t just offering “the works” for those couples who might not need 10 hours of coverage from the moment they start getting ready until they are sweating on the dance floor and ready to go back to their hotels. The market speaks, and we listen, which is why we have started offering “micro wedding” packages for our clients. This is a way for us to still catch those beautiful moments that happen during a wedding day without feeling like you have to have the huge all-day experience that can really put stress on you and make your big day feel like a chore.
A shining example is the wedding we have featured here, where Daniela and Boone came down to Nashville from their home state of Indiana with their closest friends and family to have this micro wedding experience. They started out their day at the beautiful Drakewood Farms in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, just 20 minutes from downtown nashville. Where they had a beautiful ceremony and an amazing backdrop for photos, which only took about 2 hours, and then followed us to the Fontanel trails where we took some more photos on the autumn backdrop that the outskirts of Nashville provides before heading down to the TwelveThirty Club on Broadway Avenue, where they spent their first moments together as a couple to celebrate their union. They reserved a room where they fine-dined and gave the most heartfelt speeches and reminisced about stories about one another and laughed and cried. A swirl of emotions over wine and great food provided by TwelveThirty. After dinner, we followed them as they walked the avenue in their wedding attire, and the great people of Nashville congratulated them under the neon signs, and we captured every single moment.
It was exactly how Daniela and Boone wanted to spend their most social day together, and it was great to have been able to provide them with the photo package that fit their needs. I know not every bride and groom is going to want to go small and simple, but for those of you who have started planning their weddings and have realized it is much more than they are wanting, these micro packages are perfect!
